Hey Maurice. I'm very late to this - a month late exactly! Bit that's because I've had one heck of a month. Your words really echoed with me today because I've actually done this, shrugged off distractions and just wrote. I made sure to live some life and write in those margin moments too. I announced my first article in the official Star Wars Insider magazine, kept up with my buttondown newsletter. I wrote an 8 page coic script for an anthology. I volunteered at a Roman villa and got to actually share my knowledge and writing dreams with the public. And I've been emailing back and forth with an established author who's become a mentor, shaping my synopsis, pitch and query of a novel I sent out to the world two years ago into something that I could instantly see was better. The past few days I did a rewrite of the first fifty pages of that novel to send to that author's agent. I hadn't wanted to rewrite it before. But I wrote the opening when I was 18. Now I'm 21, finally old enough to see it's not some perfect artefacts of prose that I knocked out straight after leaving school. It really does seem like a busy month. I forewent a lot of my routine comforts. But man does getting all that writing done feel good. Next step is to carry on proofing the whole novel, just on the chance that agent requests it!
